The company behind some of the best audio gear – Sonos – was working on a MagSafe speaker for iPhone.
Sonos Scrapped its Plan to Create a MagSafe Speaker for iPhone
Imagine a speaker which you would just attach to your iPhone using magnets, and it would instantly give you a boost in audio quality and volume.
That was the kind of product Sonos considered, and the company scrapped it due to questionable appeal and other challenges, according to TheVerge.
This speaker would attach to the back of your iPhone using MagSafe, and audio would be delivered using Bluetooth.
An interesting thing to note here is how the speaker was only slightly larger than the Apple MagSafe Battery Pack. In other words, it was actually a compact product.
This was a prototype product and Sonos stopped working on it completely.
I’m not going to pretend that such a product doesn’t exist at all right now. Do a quick search online and you’ll find dozens of MagSafe speakers for the iPhone.
But something from a high-end brand is the need of the hour.
Who knows if a company like Bose decides to pick up on the idea later actually turn it into a real product.
You also expect Apple to make such a product as well. It doesn’t have to be necessarily ‘Apple.’ It can come from the Beats brand instead.
Just a thought.
