No matter what anyone says, the Magic Keyboard Folio, which Apple sells for the entry-level iPad, makes more sense than the Magic Keyboard.
Entry Level iPad Users Get the Best Hardware Keyboard from Apple with Magic Keyboard Folio
Apple has a solid keyboard lineup for iPad. You’ll find nothing like it in terms of quality anywhere else. Not even third party companies are doing a great job at it.
However, when you start taking into account functionality over form, you immediately realize how useful the Magic Keyboard Folio is compared to Magic Keyboard.
Magic Keyboard Folio is a two-piece keyboard ‘system’ for the entry-level iPad. There’s a piece that attaches magnetically to the back of your iPad, while the keyboard attaches underneath.
The fact that you can take off the keyboard and keep the back piece on is an absolute game-changer. Why? Because that piece also happens to be a kickstand for your iPad.

Since two parts of the Folio touch the surface when in keyboard mode, you get extra stability while typing if you put it on your lap or an uneven surface. Not so much with Magic Keyboard, which is primarily meant for use on a solid, flat surface.
The Magic Keyboard Folio gives you way better choice in how you want to interact with iPad. Leave the back cover on if you want to prop up the iPad for watching a video, playing a game, and more, or connect the keyboard whenever you want to type away your thoughts.
It’s basically two products merged into one.
I want the same flexibility for iPad Pro and iPad Air from Apple. I don’t want to completely expose the back of my iPad whenever I take it off the Magic Keyboard.
Given how good this keyboard is, I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple gets rid of the Folio in a year or two.
