The iPad 11 doesn’t just come with a small chip upgrade; it ships with more RAM as well. 6GB, versus 4GB in the tenth-generation model.
Apple’s Latest iPad 11 with A16 Bionic Ships with 6GB of RAM
The base iPad is a very important product in Apple’s tablet lineup. But Apple didn’t see it fit to bring AI features to it, mostly because it has slightly weaker hardware compared to the iPad mini 7.
However, while the A16 Bionic chip does bring noticeable performance upgrades, you should also know that the tablet features more RAM – all 6GB of it – compared to the outgoing tenth-generation model which only had 4GB of RAM.
The discovery was made by MacRumors.
That extra RAM means you can have more apps running in the background, which in turn means you won’t see apps re-launching when you wake them up from the multitasking view. Same goes for Safari tabs as well.
While Apple did make a bold decision not to bring Apple Intelligence to the iPad 11, it’s something you can easily remedy with third-party apps.
You can start things off by installing ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and so on. In fact, there are so many great options that you’re not missing out on anything at all.
For someone who needs an iPad just to do iPad things, the iPad 11 is very easy to recommend despite its obvious shortcomings. AI seems extremely important, but ask around how many people actually use it on their devices, and the answer won’t be shocking at all.
