Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to ship with a slightly bigger battery compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max will be 0.475mm Thicker than iPhone 16 Pro Max, But Will Ship with Bigger Battery

According to Ice Universe in a post on Weibo, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max smartphone is going to be slightly thicker compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Instead of just making the phone big for no reason, users will get a slightly bigger battery. But it’s unclear how big this new battery is going to be. But to give you an idea of what numbers we are dealing with, the current Pro Max has a 4,685mAh battery.

The slightly thicker design may push that number either close to 5,000mAh or go beyond it. It all depends on what type of battery Apple ends up using in its new phone.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25mm thick, and the 17 Pro Max will take it all the way to 8.725mm. That may not sound like much, but it’s still significant.

It will be interesting to see where the weight of the smartphone will fall, especially when you realize that the phone is set to get heavy while also embracing aluminum as a primary material for the frame.

Given how Apple is set to go all-out with a thinner iPhone 17 Air with its insanely thin 5.5mm body, I don’t mind having a chunky phone in my hand as long as it gives me something in return – a bigger battery. If that’s happening this year with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, things are starting to look great already.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is also said to go big in the RAM department. All rumors say that Apple’s larger phone will ship with 12GB of RAM instead of 8GB.
