Your AirPods will be able to translate speech into another language in real-time with the upcoming iOS 19 update.

AirPods will be Able to Translate Speech in Real Time with iOS 19, Update Releasing Later this Year

The Universal Translator from Star Trek is about to turn into a reality as iOS 19 is going to introduce a similar feature for AirPods, according to Bloomberg.

With the feature enabled, your AirPods’ microphones will listen to the speech from the other person and translate it to your native language in real time.

Before you get too excited, do keep in mind that the built-in Translate app on your iPhone actually does this already, but the feature is now going to be a part of AirPods, which makes far more sense.

Whenever someone talks to you, your AirPods will start translating the conversation, and when you reply back, your iPhone’s speaker will do all the translating for the other person.

I’ll immediately just say it; it’s a feature that has existed on other platforms for a long time, in exactly the same manner as described above. It’s refreshing to see Apple finally bringing it to iPhone and AirPods at the end of the year.

Apart from the above feature, iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 are going to be massive design overhauls for iPhone and iPad. A previous report says this design change will ultimately affect the way we use our devices and simplify things as much as possible.

This design change is also coming to the Mac with macOS 16.
