The products that have shaped Apple’s product lineup have been reclassified as vintage today. It includes iPhone X, AirPods and HomePod.
Apple Adds the Original AirPods, iPhone X and First-Generation HomePod to its Vintage Products List
According to Apple’s official list for vintage products, the iPhone X, first-generation AirPods and the original HomePod are now considered vintage. What exactly does this mean? Here’s what you need to know.
Apple has stopped selling the above mentioned products for more than five years. Yes, it’s been that long. This is the reason they are now classified as vintage. Once the product has been reclassified as vintage, you can only get support and repairs from Apple for up to two years more as long as parts are available. If you’re still holding on to one of these products and one of them is in dire need of repair, it’s best to get it done now officially before you are forced to take the third-party route.
Though all these products are legendary, but it’s the AirPods that really, really took the industry to the next level. I still remember when Apple announced the original AirPods at $159, everyone thought it was a joke. Few years later and everyone wanted one of these. I got mine as soon as I could and it felt like magic.
HomePod, on the other hand, was an amazing sounding speaker, and it still is. Mine works like a charm and I never had issues with it, though I do want it to fail secretly so I can upgrade to the newer model. Anyway, it’s still going, and that means I’m going to hold on to it as long as possible.
The iPhone X, on other hand, started the new era for iPhone for Apple. The iconic Home button was gone, the switch to an OLED display happened, Face ID was introduced and so much more.
