I’ll just say it outright – the notch on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro makes no sense at all. If Apple is not going to add functionality to it like it did with Dynamic Island on iPhone, then what’s the point of it? Thankfully, developers are always coding their way around problems, and the app NotchNook exists to make the notch on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro useful.
Once installed, there are many ways you can use the NotchNook app. You can have widgets, live actions and so much more right inside the notch area. The developer says there are a thousand ways you can use it and that is exactly one thousand ways more than Apple’s way of utilizing the notch.
When you’re playing music, you’ll get to see album art, access playback controls and more around the notch area. It makes perfect sense, too. After all, on an iPhone with Dynamic Island, you instantly glance at the top of the display to see if something is running in the background, with NotchNook, you get the same experience on the Mac.
Though the NotchNook app works on a Mac that doesn’t have a notch, it’s still recommended to use it on a Mac that does, such as one of the new MacBook Air or MacBook Pro laptops.

There is a high chance Apple might just Sherlock this app and add it as a feature in a future version of macOS. Right now, I know for a fact that this functionality is not available in macOS Sequoia that is set for release later this year, hence investing in this app is a safe bet.
