Well, looks like Meta is following Apple’s footsteps and won’t be bringing its future AI models to the EU due to regulatory concerns.

Citing the Digital Markets Act, Meta Says it Won’t be Bringing its Future AI Models to the EU, Just like Apple

Citing the Digital Markets Act, Apple said it won’t be bringing Apple Intelligence to the EU this year. Interestingly, Meta has an eerily similar stance to Apple’s and said it won’t be bringing its AI models to the EU either due to the DMA, according to Axios.

The interesting thing here is, no Apple Intelligence in EU would mean a massive opportunity for companies like Meta. Just think about it, if there’s no Apple AI, consumers will turn somewhere else to get their fill. Instead, Meta has decided to not offer its AI models to anyone in the EU this year either.

Given how Meta has taken this stance, it seems clear that Apple and Meta are on the same page when it comes to AI and its distribution. Both companies want to work freely in a market that is demanding fairness above all else. But, will Apple and Meta get their way? It remains to be seen.

If Meta AI and Apple Intelligence do launch in the EU, it will most compromise features in some way. It’s hard to guess what those features might be.

At the end of the day, the consumer is the one to suffer, massively. It will be interesting to see how this whole thing pans out now that Meta and its AI ambitions are also put on hold in the EU.
