Though it’s not confirmed, but it is believed that the new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones will feature Wi-Fi 7.

Supply Chain Rumor Says iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will Feature Wi-Fi 7 Support

The current iPhone models support Wi-Fi 6E, which is pretty fast. What makes Wi-Fi 6E so great is the introduction of the new 6GHz band. But, any Wi-Fi 6E device is limited to using just one band at the same time – 2.4GHz, 5GHz or 6GHz. With Wi-Fi 7, things suddenly change when you realize a compatible device can use all three bands at the same time, not just one.

If you’re in close proximity to a Wi-Fi 7 router, your iPhone will be able to connect to the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands together, creating a network connection that has low latency and high stability. This is coming to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, according to a report by Digitimes.

Though this feature has been rumored before, there’s no solid evidence for it so far. But, given Wi-Fi 7 is the latest standard for the years to come, Apple will likely introduce it with its new iPhone lineup and then bring it to other devices like the iPad and Mac.

While this feature is definitely great, but do keep one thing in mind – you will need a Wi-Fi 7 router at home or office to take advantage of the upgrade. If you don’t have that, you will fall back to the standard your home, office or public router supports. Usually that’s around the Wi-Fi 5 or 6 range, which is still perfect for daily tasks. Furthermore, you can truly tap into the prowess of Wi-Fi 7 if you have a very fast internet connection at home – gigabit or higher – since the standard supports up to 40Gbps of theoretical speeds.

Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone 16 lineup in September. We are just a couple of months away from announcement, in fact. If you were thinking of buying a new iPhone, it’s best to hold back and wait for the new ones to arrive. Once they’re here, and you find them interesting enough, you can buy them, or just get an even better deal on outgoing models. It’s simple as that.
