Apple is hard at work polishing iOS 18 and iOS 18.1, not to mention the plethora of others at the same time. In all this noise, you’d expect the company to stop focusing on iOS 17, right? That’s where we are all wrong. Apple is currently working on a new iOS 17.6.1 update and no-one knows when it will be released or what it will bring, via MacRumors.
Given it’s a small update, I expect nothing more than security and bug fixes, most likely. Apple is no longer adding new features to iOS 17, that’s for sure. That ship has long sailed and Apple is adding everything it has in its inventory into iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.
Whenever the iOS 17.6.1 update is available to download, I will suggest installing it right away. These updates, even though they don’t contain new features, are extremely important.
If you’re testing iOS 18 or iOS 18.1, it’s best not to worry about new iOS 17 updates at all. But, make sure you download and install all the subsequent beats on time, too.
