The M4 Mac mini is getting a major redesign, and it will be so small, it will be the smallest computer Apple has ever made.
Apple is Working on a Major Redesign for the M4 Mac mini, will be as Small as the Apple TV
The report comes from Bloomberg, and they’re saying Apple is working on a major redesign for the M4 Mac mini. Despite getting a huge processing power upgrade with the M4 chip, the new Mac mini will feature an extremely small enclosure compared to the current design.
Let’s face it, if Apple is able to fit everything inside something as thin as the M4 iPad Pro, it makes no sense why the Mac mini should be a big computer. Apple is finally taking advantage of its efficient silicon with the M4 Mac mini.
The report says the new Mac mini will be as small as the Apple TV, which is definitely a small device to begin with. The Mac mini will still feature an aluminum shell. Apple is probably going with the material to help with thermals. It remains to be seen whether or not Apple is going to pull the fan from the new Mac mini or will it still feature an active cooling system.
While further details are scarce regarding the new M4 Mac mini, but Apple has tested several units with up to three USB-C ports and a single HDMI for connecting a monitor to it. What we end up getting is entirely up for debate.
One thing I would love to see in the Mac mini is colors. It’s one of the most fun computer Apple currently sells, apart from the iMac, and it makes sense to ship it in vibrant color options, apart from the usual aluminum finish. But, I’m just manifesting here, Apple could just ship the computer in two colors – silver and midnight – and call it a year.
We did come across a report a few days back saying the M4 Mac mini could launch later this year along with other Macs.
