Looks like Apple’s folding MacBook and iPad are not going to arrive until 2027 or 2028, according to a new report.

Don’t Expect Apple to Release a Folding MacBook or iPad Until 2027 or 2028

The news comes from Ming-Chi Kuo and he says Apple’s plan to manufacture a foldable MacBook has been delayed. He shares details on this notebook and says it will have an 18.8 display while the 20.25-inch display model has been cancelled.

In case you’re wondering, the rumored foldable MacBook is just a huge display that unfolds to turn into a laptop. The top half is the usual display while the bottom half turns into a keyboard. Sold to the idea?

According to Kuo, Apple is not manufacturing this folding MacBook due to technical difficulties. The folding MacBook was supposed to go into production in the first half of 2026 but now has been pushed to 2027 at least.

Kuo also touches on the folding iPad in the report. He says that there’s no trace of the folding tablet in the supply chain and we shouldn’t expect it to arrive until 2025, at least. There’s also a chance that this folding iPad is being mistaken for a MacBook and vice versa. After all, it’s a rumor, so we can expect mistakes to happen.

Now, the thing is, foldable hardware may seem cool, but even in the world of Android, it hasn’t taken off, nor does anyone care about it properly. We need our devices front and center, ready for use. In this fast-paced world, constantly fighting with hardware that needs to be opened is not exactly ideal. Sure, they look cool as fashion statements, that’s about it.

If you can recall, we did come across a report regarding a folding iPhone and that too was folding the wrong way. Though it sounds like an interesting device, but it’s usefulness is next to none close to me.

Again, that’s my take on foldable phones and tablets.
