The iPad mini 6 is slowly going out of stock at Apple Stores around the world. Is Apple going to announce the iPad mini 7 soon?
iPad mini 7 Could be Announced Alongside the iPhone 16 at the ‘It’s Glowtime’ Event on September 9th
Apple has officially announced the iPhone 16 event called ‘It’s Glowtime.’ But, this is an iPhone-focused event, and we expect the company to announce the iPhone 16, a couple of new Apple Watches and AirPods – everything else later.
However, given the current iPad mini stock running low, and no iPad-centric event in sight, for now at least, is there a possibility Apple is going to update its smaller tablet alongside the new iPhone 16?
According to Mark Gurman on X, there is a possibility. It also makes sense, too. After all, Apple is making a solid effort when it comes to Apple Intelligence, therefore updating all of its devices to faster chips to run all its AI features is an obvious thing to do.
Speaking of chips, previous rumors say the new iPad mini 7 will be powered by the A17 chip. If Apple pairs it with 8GB of RAM, the tablet will be ready for Apple Intelligence out of the box. But, it remains to be seen how many CPU or GPU cores Apple is going to drop in order to make the A17 chip happen. After all, there’s no such thing as A17 right now – only the A17 Pro, and that chip lives in the iPhone 15 Pro.
I really wish the iPad mini 7 is powered by the A18 chip instead, the one which Apple is planning to put into the iPhone 16. Shipping one of its greatest products with a slightly under-powered version of a year-old chip doesn’t quite paint a great picture. But hey, I might be wrong about this completely.
We just have a few more days to go and everything will be revealed to the world. Save the date – it’s September 9th.
