So, it’s not just me and you, iOS 18 is most likely causing touch-screen issues on the iPhone.
Facing Touch-screen Issues on iPhone Running iOS 18? You Aren’t Alone
Since installing iOS 18, I noticed how the touch-screen on my iPhone 15 Pro Max has been a hit or miss, but extremely occasionally. I thought it was probably the screen protector, but clearly it isn’t, now that I am seeing more reports on this.
The initial report on this by 9to5Mac thought the issue was only limited to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. But, a quick glance at social media, especially Reddit, shows how the issue is being experienced by several users, not just those who own the new iPhone 16.
For me, the issue arises when I’m typing away on the keyboard and iOS will miss a keystroke or two. It will mostly work fine, but compared to iOS 17, you can definitely tell something does not feel right. However, if this is a software issue, and clearly it is, I’m sure an iOS 18.0.1 update should arrive to fix things up for users around the world.
At the time of writing, it’s safe to assume the initial release of iOS 18 is not the smoothest software you’ll lay your hands on. You’ll find loads of bugs in certain places and it definitely needs some updates before it can be deemed ‘pristine.’ And not to forget iPadOS 18 that managed to brick several M4 iPad Pro devices.
Those who did not upgrade to iOS 18 yet should stay on the version of iOS 17 which they are currently running. Once the initial software updates for iOS 18 have been rolled out to fix these bugs, only then consider upgrading.
Such issues are extremely common whenever a major version of iOS is released to the public. It really wouldn’t be an iOS release if it wasn’t marred by some sort of problem, and we finally have one, this means the tradition has been kept.
Though this might look bad, but trust me, it’s still not as bad as that iOS 8.0.1 update that complete broke cellular and Touch ID on iPhone 6. The only fix was a fresh restore to iOS 8.0.
I wish Apple releases the bug fix update either today, or some time this week to fix most of the common issues users are facing with iOS 18. If there’s any update, you’ll definitely hear back from me soon.
