Apple Releases iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 for iPhone and iPad with Loads of Bug Fixes, Download and Install Right Away
The first update to iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 is finally here. As usual, it is packed with bug fixes for both iPhone and iPad, something which every user needs right now. According to the official changelog, here’s everything that is new:
This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone including:
Touch screen may be temporarily unresponsive in certain circumstances on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models
Camera may freeze when recording macro mode video on the Ultra Wide camera in 4K with HDR turned off on iPhone 16 Pro models
Messages may unexpectedly quit when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face
Performance may be impacted due to an issue with memory allocation on some iPhone models
You should download and install iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 on your iPhone and iPad right away. If you have been experiencing a ton of issues on your devices, hopefully, this update is going to fix most of them. Trust me, fixing bugs is a long ride, something that can’t be taken care of in one go.
In order to download the new update immediately, you should take the over-the-air route. Just follow these steps and you’ll be up and running in no time:
- Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi.
- Make sure you have 50% or more battery life on your iPhone and iPad. Connect to a charger if battery is lower.
- Launch the ‘Settings’ app and go to General > Software Update.
- Tap on ‘Update Now’ when iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 shows up for download.
Unlike iPadOS 18.0, the new iPadOS 18.0.1 update is available for the M4 iPad Pro as well. If you’ve been waiting for that to arrive, today’s the big day.
You have the option to perform a clean install as well. As ever, you have to go through the trouble of disabling Find My, taking a backup, and then restoring everything using Finder. If you are up for that, just head over to this link.
Given iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 is a bug fix update, I wouldn’t recommend going through the trouble of doing a clean install. If you believe it’s something you should do and don’t mind investing the time in it, it’s entirely up to you.
Whatever route you take, just make sure you download this update as soon as possible. Any bug fix update is crucial for the smooth functioning of your iPhone and iPad.
