You can now download and install iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 beta 5 on your iPhone and iPad devices, including the iPhone 16.

Apple Releases iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 Beta 5 with Apple Intelligence for Download

Apple has released the fifth beta of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1. This means if you have been testing out beta 4 for quite some time, you can go ahead and install the latest beta on your iPhone and iPad right away.

The steps for downloading the new iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 beta 5 remain the same as before, and here’s what you need to do:

  • Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi and have 50% or more battery life remaining.
  • Launch Settings, go to General > Software Update.
  • The new iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 beta 5 will show up here. Tap on ‘Update Now’ when it does.

With iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 beta 4, Apple made a huge change to the iPhone and iPad beta lineup. Instead of being available to a select few devices that only support Apple Intelligence, the update is available for all devices that support iOS 18.0 and iPadOS 18.0. Furthermore, Apple also made the update available as a public beta. If you are interested in testing it out on your iPhone or iPad, make sure you head over to this link.

If you have a compatible iPhone and iPad, you get to experience Apple Intelligence while everyone else gets a ton of bug fixes and other improvements. Features like call recording is also coming to older iPhones though features like real-time transcribing is only available on devices that support Apple Intelligence.

Apple intends to release iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 to everyone in October. A recent report said the company plans to roll out Apple Intelligence features slowly and gradually. You can expect the rollout to be complete in March of next year. Sure, that’s a long time to wait, but you will get initial big thing in October, which isn’t that far away at all.

I will suggest taking the iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 public beta for a spin on your device, especially if you own something that can handle Apple Intelligence. Why wait till October when you can have it all (at least in beta) right now, no?
