The iPhone 16 Pro has gone through some extensive charging tests and some interesting numbers have been revealed.
The iPhone 16 Pro Supports Fast Charging up to 23W with Same Wireless Charging Performance as iPhone 16 Pro Max
One thing’s for sure, the iPhone 16 lineup does not support 45W fast charging. Charging tests done on the iPhone 16 Pro Max shows the phone supports up to 30W speeds compared to 27W on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Today, ChargeLAB is taking its testing one step further by putting the iPhone 16 Pro under the microscope. Compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, you won’t see big numbers, but it’s fast enough for most users.
First of all, if you are using a compatible charger, you’ll get speeds of up to 23W. Though the number floats around 23.5W using a first-party or third-party charger, but rounding it off to 23W makes more sense.
If you want to take full advantage of the top wired charging speeds, you need a 30W or faster charger. Anything faster will not give you faster speeds.
In fact, using a 20W charger is more than enough for most people, in my opinion. Using a 30W charger does not give you a huge advantage at all.
Given Apple’s 30W charger costs $39 compared to just $19 for the 20W one, paying double only gets you around 4W extra.
Not worth it at all.
When it comes to wireless charging, it’s the same as the larger iPhone. Use the 25W MagSafe Charger to get the maximum charging speeds when paired with a 30W charger. It’s as simple as that.

The conclusion is this: if you want the fastest possible charging speeds on your iPhone 16 Pro, get a 30W charger. But, for most people, 20W is more than enough and will get you from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes.
The strange thing in the test is this, while the phone maintains 23W of charging speed using official Apple chargers, it does go close to 25W using some third-party chargers. The chances you’ll come across those chargers are so low, it’s best to ignore them completely.
In a world where smartphone offer up to 45W of wired charging speeds like it’s no big deal, it’s strange to see Apple sticking around with charging speeds in the 20s. But, if those slower charging speeds ensure better battery life performance over the years, then it does make sense.
