It’s like history is repeating itself. There’s a good reason why you can’t see iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2 beta 1 for download.
Can’t See the New iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2 Betas for Download? Because Your Device isn’t Supported
With iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 all set for release next week, Apple has released the next wave of software updates – iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2.
These new updates are extremely important and ones that take Apple Intelligence to another level. This means features like ChatGPT support, Image Playground, Genmoji and Visual Intelligence for iPhone 16 are getting closer to reality and are no longer just a marketing image on Apple’s website.
However, the final version of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2 is far away and you currently have to deal with the rocky road of developer betas.
But, where is the developer beta? Why can’t you see it on your device? There’s a good reason, and a reason that takes you to the early days of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 – the updates are exclusively available for devices that support Apple Intelligence.
If you rock an iPhone 15 or earlier, an iPad with a non-M-series chip, or an Intel Mac, none of the new updates will show up for you. However, if history has taught us anything, it’s that the update will show up later for everyone to test out, but without Apple Intelligence features, where applicable.
Even if you go to Settings > General > Software Updates > Beta Updates, you won’t see iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 developer beta on a non-Apple Intelligence compatible device. Same, if you go to System Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates.
Remember, you must be signed up to the Apple Developer Program in order to get access to the betas. Do so right now if you have a device compatible with Apple Intelligence in order to test out the new features.
Getting hold of a compatible device is the only way you can test out the betas and all the new Apple Intelligence goodness. You don’t need the latest iPhone 16 to do that either – just grab a renewed iPhone 15 Pro or an M1 iPad Air to get on the bandwagon. All Apple silicon devices get the same features except iPhone 16 which is exclusively getting Visual Intelligence.
Once the new betas are available for every device, you’ll definitely hear more from me. Until then, you can start reading about the new features as they unfold.
