As CEO of Apple, you’d definitely wonder what type of gear Tim Cook uses. In an interview on YouTube, he makes an interesting revelation.

Tim Cook Reveals he Uses his MacBook Air more than his MacBook Pro – Also Uses iPhone 15 Pro Max, Vision Pro, More

Apple executives gave out a lot of interviews to tech influencers and creators during WWDC 2024, but the one that stood out to me the most was the one given by Tim Cook to Safwan AhmedMia (SuperSaf) on YouTube. It’s an extremely candid interview in which Tim talks about Apple Intelligence. The part that really had my interest was about the Apple products he uses on a daily basis.

The products he mentions are as follows: iPhone 15 Pro Max, Vision Pro, 13-inch iPad Pro, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and AirPods. Tim doesn’t go deep into the precise models of the products he uses, but he did mention something very interesting. He said, he uses a MacBook Air and he uses the MacBook Pro sometimes.

As the person who sits on Apple’s throne, you expect them to be a MacBook Pro-only guy. But, that’s not the case at all. He uses the MacBook Air and that’s the cheapest laptop Apple sells right now, whether you’re buying the 13-inch or 15-inch model.

My point here is, if you are out and about hunting for a Mac and are completely torn between the Air and Pro, this statement from Tim Cook should drive some confidence into you. You really don’t need that extra headroom for tasks you’re making up inside your head as ‘just in case’. Apple silicon has gotten so good lately that you can flat-out edit 4K video on the base model MacBook Air without skipping a beat.

Before starting this website, I wanted to kickstart everything on a new Mac and I had my eyes on the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro. I wanted to be cool with the brightest display, chunky aluminum chassis and whatnot. But suddenly I realized that I did not need any of that power. So, I got the 13-inch MacBook Air with M3 instead and do I love this laptop. Since the day I bought it, never ever I wished I had bought the MacBook Pro. This thing absolutely flies and manages to surprise me on a daily basis.

Let me give you an example, I covered the entirety of WWDC 2024 on this notebook and it did not stutter, nor did it flinch. It kept on going and the battery life is simply insane. What makes this surprising to me how this is the base 13-inch MacBook Air with just 8GB of RAM. That amount is considered illegal these days for some reason.

It makes perfect sense why Apple’s CEO prefers this over a MacBook Pro, because it does it all in an extremely portable form-factor. Do not spend your money on a computer that does not offer you anything extra in the same amount of work that you’re doing. You do not need that ultra-bright HDR display if you’re spending your entire day writing emails.

Take it from someone who has been making these buying mistakes in the past.
