Waiting for the iPad 11? According to a brand new report, the entry-level tablet will get its upgrade in Spring of 2025.

Apple to Launch the iPad 11 Early Next Year – Details on Chip and Design Remain Sparse

Recently, Apple updated iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip. However, in the noise of that update, we realized the entry-level iPad didn’t get any mention at all.

In fact, there’s no iPad expected in the coming week either, where Apple is set to announce the M4 MacBook Pro, iMac and the Mac mini.

Today, a report from Bloomberg sheds light on the entry-level iPad and says it is going to get its upgrade in Spring of 2025, or early next year, whichever you want to go with.

Apart from that detail, we have nothing at all. There’s no telling if the design will change, which I believe it won’t, and the processor is also a mystery. I’ll be surprised if Apple goes for a chip that doesn’t support Apple Intelligence, though that is highly unlikely.

However, there is one possibility, and it’s such a long shot that even I want to disagree with myself.

The thing is, Apple has a very good parts bin that is filled with chips from the past. I’m sure that bin includes some M1 chips, too. Having said that, who knows Apple might just throw in a binned version of the M1 in the iPad 11 and call it an upgrade.

The M1 chip used in the base model MacBook Air was a binned part. It featured a 7-core GPU and 8-core CPU, although every other model had a 8-core GPU.

Again, I’m speculating based on things Apple has recently done, including the latest iPad mini. If there’s one thing Apple absolutely wins at, it’s that parts bin.

We’ll know soon which chip Apple is going to pick from that bin and throw into the new iPad.
