The new M4 and M4 Pro Mac mini are out. Wondering how much the top-end model costs? Let’s max it out and find out.

M4 Pro Mac mini with 14-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 64GB RAM, 8TB SSD and 10Gbps Ethernet Costs Close to $5,000

I wasn’t expecting the Mac mini to be this good. Sure, it was definitely going to be powerful, but this much power in a form factor this small is crazy.

A Mac mini is the perfect ‘first Mac’ for a lot of people, and the base model is a great starting point. It has a 10-core CPU and GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage – way more than enough.

Some people like to take things up a notch, and that’s why the M4 Pro Mac mini exists. Starting at $1,399, it’s not cheap either, especially when you factor in the cost of the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

There’s going to be another group of buyers that love to max out the specs of a computer before buying it. If you are one of them and looking for the answer to ‘how much does a maxed-out M4 Pro Mac mini cost?’ I have the answer for you.

I maxed out the M4 Pro model and came up with these specs:

  • M4 Pro chip with 14-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine.
  • 64GB of RAM.
  • 8TB of storage.
  • 10Gbps Ethernet.

I’m not including any software with this upgrade at all since there’s no point of it.

The total comes to an eye-watering $4,699. That’s not cheap at all for a small computer. When compared to an iMac, though an unfair comparison, the maxed out model costs under $2,999.

Since we are toying around with specs, let’s see how much the M4 model costs when maxed out on Apple’s website.

  • M4 chip with 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine.
  • 32GB of RAM.
  • 2TB SSD.
  • 10Gbps Ethernet.

Again, not including any software bundle with this and the total comes out at $1,899.

Instead of maxing out the M4 model, I will simply suggest getting the M4 Pro model and going for the faster chip instead, especially if performance is your priority.
