Apple has just released firmware 7B19 for the latest AirPods 4 – standard and ANC models.

AirPods 4 Firmware 7B19 Now Available Over the Air – Bump up from Older 7A304

If you think that firmware version is familiar, it’s because it is. It’s the same version which was released just a while back for the AirPods Pro 2 with Hearing Health features.

Do keep one thing in mind: while the firmware brings the hearing aid feature to the AirPods Pro 2, the same update does not go to the AirPods 4. I believe the update only makes the software more consistent across the board, featuring the same bug fixes and performance enhancements as everything else.

You can check which firmware you’re running on your AirPods 4. Simply connect them to your iPhone or iPad, launch the Settings app, tap on the AirPods 4 option at the top, scroll all the way down, and you’ll see the firmware version. If it says 7B19, you’re on the latest one. If it says 7A304, then you’re just one firmware behind.

There’s no way to force the update onto the AirPods 4. Just leave them be, and it will download and install on its own. It’s how things work in the world of AirPods software updates.
