Right after the announcement of iOS 18, everyone got a taste of the first beta while some thought it was cool to stick with the wallpapers instead. Today, those who didn’t install the iPadOS 18 beta can download the wallpapers from it, all for free.
I tried the new iPadOS 18 beta wallpapers on the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models and they look great. If you tinker around with them a little, you can achieve an excellent ‘midnight’ look. It’s abundantly clear Apple has designed them with an OLED display in mind, but they look fantastic whether you have an iPad with an LCD, Mini LED or OLED display.
When you set these wallpapers up, I will recommend a quick pinch to zoom in or out for a perfect fit. You can also play around with color styles during customization to find an alternative look, too. I usually end up using a wallpaper with a splash of color, so it never hurts to try something a bit different to suit you more.
If you really want to take things up a notch, you can also give these wallpapers a spin on a Mac. You may have to upscale them manually using a third-party app or online service to fit the larger screen. There is a chance you may see some artifacts if the wallpaper is being used on a massive display as is, such as that of the 24-inch iMac.
You’re not limited to using these wallpapers on an Apple device, they will look as great on an Android phone, tablet or a Windows PC. Just be sure to crop and rotate them properly before applying.
iPadOS 18 is in beta right now and I am expecting beta 2 to be released within a couple of weeks. When it comes to wallpapers, it’s highly likely Apple may surprise us with new ones with the full and final build later this year. But, again, the ones we have right now are absolutely fantastic. They get the point across quite well – new software, new wallpaper.
