A feature that makes perfect sense, the music recognition feature in iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 will record location data too.

iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 Makes Identifying Songs More Useful by Recording Location Data with History

Discovered by Macworld, when you launch the music recognition feature in iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 for the first time and go to the History section, you’ll see a brand-new splash screen.

On this splash screen, you’ll see mention of a new ‘Music Memories’ feature, which asks the user to enable location access to record the location of the place where you discovered that track using Control Center.

From now on, whenever you identify a track and go back to it in the History section, you’ll see the location where you identified the track, too.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I think this feature is extremely useful. It’s always fun to have extra data that takes you back down memory lane.

iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 are going to be fantastic updates for iPhone and iPad. Not only are we getting new Apple Intelligence features, but little changes like the ones above to keep things nice and fresh.

At the time of writing, iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 are currently in beta, available for developers and public beta testers.

You can take the update for a spin right now. Just make sure you have a device compatible with Apple Intelligence if you want to take features like Image Playground, Genmoji, and ChatGPT support for a spin.

The full and final version of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 are said to be released in the first week of December, though some rumors suggest it may release officially on the 9th of December.

The interesting thing about that date is this: it’s a Monday. So, chances are high that this date holds some weight.
